Early Years Teaching Assistant 1-2-1 support, Fixed Term, Required from January 2026
Lydalls Nursery School is looking to recruit an Early Years Teaching Assistant to provide 1-2-1 support for a delightful child who thoroughly enjoys their time at Nursery.
The role is for a Fixed Term from January 2026 to July 2026, 08.45-12.45, Monday to Friday Term Time Only, although there may be an opportunity to extend the contract for the right person.
Lydalls Nursery School is a Local Authority Nursery School that has existed on its current site for 80 years. We are a school that specialises in Early Years Education. Like other schools, we are led by a Headteacher and Governing Body with teaching and learning delivered by a team of teachers, nursery nurses and early years teaching assistants and early years practitioners. In a Maintained Nursery School, the Headteacher and teaching team are all early year’s specialists. This makes our provision very special indeed.
We accept children from their 2nd birthday and they attend for 38 weeks of the year (term time only). Children spend time exploring our exciting curriculum both indoors in our well-resourced classrooms and outdoors in our Forest School, exciting playground and sensory garden. Inside our sensory and therapeutic rooms provide inclusive spaces for children.
We are passionate about delivering superb learning opportunities for our children and staff and have a track record of developing staff from within. We have an engaging curriculum, excellent CPD opportunities and brilliant children all of which will support you in developing your early years career.
Job Purpose is flexible but will include
- To provide planned SEN support for a child on a 1-2-1 basis
- To respond to the individual needs of the child
- To contribute to providing an inclusive, responsive, nurturing and stimulating environment for children ages 2-5 as part of an experienced and friendly team
- To establish and develop warm, trusting and consistent professional relationships with individual children and their families/carers
- To work in partnership with families/carers, the local community and other professional, keeping children at the heart of everything you do

Supply Teachers (Bank Staff)
We wish to develop a list of caring and enthusiastic qualified Supply Teachers to provide cover for planned and unplanned staff absence in our outstanding Nursery School. This could involve working for a few weeks or several days to cover a planned absence or providing occasional cover when staff are ill.
The successful candidate will need to:
- support staff in the planning and organisation of the learning environment appropriate to the developmental needs and interests of children aged between 3 and 5 years
- motivate children in their learning and establish a nurturing and enabling relationship with them
- ensure the classroom environment is ordered and displays reflect the value attributed to children’s work
- contribute to records of children’s development and progress
- be committed to equal opportunity for all children and to support provision for children with special educational needs and for children with English as an additional language
- be committed to the overall safety of all children and undertake safeguarding training
